Lone Star Self Storage Use Tips!
It’s that time of the year again. College freshmen everywhere are preparing to move away from home and into dormitories. For many young people, this will be the first experience of living independently. It’s an exciting time, but also one that can make a lot of people nervous.
If you are a first-year college student, here are some tips to help you move into your new digs:
1. Do some research
Before you even start packing, find out as much information as you can about your new dorm. Chances are that you will get (or already have received) an information packet from your school. But you can also find out information on the Internet. It may even be worth your while to see if you can use Facebook or college web forums to locate upper classman who might be willing to tell you about dorm life.
2, Find out about your roommates
If you can, try to contact any roommates you may have before you move in. Once you meet him or her (or them), make an effort to get to know that person/those persons. Discuss ground rules, such as when the lights go out for the night and whether or not guests can stay over.
3. Move in early if possible
Dorms typically have designated move-in days for residents. If you want to avoid crowded hallways and elevators, check to see if you can move in early. There may be fees associated with this, but if you can afford it you’ll save yourself a lot of headaches.
4. Be prepared for tight living conditions
Most dorm rooms lack storage space, so don’t bring or buy too many things at first until you’ve seen the layout. Bed risers, hooks, racks and collapsible furniture can help you maximize whatever space you do have.
